March

Lent

Congratulations to all the boys and girls who received the sacrament of Confirmation recently. Another step on the way to knowing God. The easiest way to know God is by making friends with him.  He will be always there for you.

We are still in Lent—the time to get spiritually fit and prepare for Easter. It is a time to contemplate the suffering and death of Jesus.  For this we have stations of the cross on Fridays at 7. 30 pm. Fasting is good too, we get to feel hunger and to save money for the real hungry in the third world—whether it is for food or clothing or education. It’s good for us who don’t have any real want.

“When God wants to drill a man

And thrill a man and skill a man;

When God wants to mould a man

To play the noblest part;

When He yearns with all his heart

To create so great and bold a man

That all the world should be amazed—

Watch His methods, watch His ways!

How He ruthlessly perfects

Whom He royally elects!

How He hammers him and hurts him

And with mighty blows converts him

Into trial shapes of clay which

Only God understands,

While his tortured heart is crying

And he lifts beseeching hands!

How he bends but never breaks

When his good He undertakes;

How He uses whom He chooses

And with every purpose fuses him,

By every act induces him

To try His splendour out;
God knows what He’s about!”

May this Lenten season be a new beginning and a time of great blessing for each one of us. Help us to live each moment of every day with the grace of your love and compassion.

Enable us to do and say some small piece of goodness that will help others tp feel  affirmed and supported.

Anoint our small efforts this Lent, so that we may rise at the end  of our journey to the new life of your risen Christ. Amen.
